The art scene in Miami
Art Basel Miami Beach draws galleries and collectors from around the world each December, and a whole cluster of satellite fairs pops up around it during the same week. But Miami is more than that one week. The Pérez Art Museum Miami, on Biscayne Bay, presents modern and contemporary art with a particular focus on the Americas and the Caribbean, while ICA Miami in the Design District offers free exhibitions year-round.
Wynwood, a former warehouse district, became famous for its murals, including the Wynwood Walls, and also has galleries and studios. Further north, Little Haiti carries the mark of Haitian artists and Caribbean culture, with its colours, murals and cultural venues. Little Havana, for its part, reflects the Cuban influence that runs through the city’s music, food and visual art.
With Artblr, you can discover Miami artists and write to them directly. Ask about a piece, request photos in natural light or a studio visit, and talk through shipping, including to Canada. The exchange between you and the artist carries no commission.
