Maceo Parker

This is a painting of Maceo Parker that I created for the Jazz Colours series. It is a painting that belongs in my private collection because it is autographed by Maceo himself: "Dear Stephanie, with love, Maceo". So how did that happen? It's thanks to a friend who used to date one of Maceo's musicians. She introduced me to the band manager and they agreed to let us go backstage to meet Maceo at a concert in France. I shyly showed him the portrait painting, which was slightly embarrassing because it was huge to carry around, measuring 120x80cm. Maceo admired the painting and kindly agreed to sign it. We also signed two prints, one for me and one for him! I felt very starstruck and then we enjoyed his amazing performance on stage. He is a man with such presence on stage. An amazing concert indeed!
