In short
Artblr is operated by DFlunk Inc., a company based in Quebec. This page explains in practical terms what data we collect, where it’s hosted, how long we keep it and how our cookies work. It complements our privacy policy.
- Our database is hosted in Canada, in the Montreal region.
- We don’t use any advertising cookies.
- Audience measurement is optional and only turned on with your consent.
- We don’t store your IP address for our statistics.
Data we collect
We only collect the data the service needs:
- Your account: name, email address, hashed password, language, country and city. For art lovers, only the city, never the full address.
- What artists and galleries publish: profile, artworks, images, events and certificates.
- Your messages: name, email address and content, with or without an account.
- Your online purchases: your shipping address, collected only for online purchases and used only for delivery.
- Your preferences: hearts, followed artists, boards, alerts and email choices.
- Server logs: they include your IP address and are used for security and to keep the site running properly.
Your location
On the “Near me” page, you can type your city or click “Use my location”. If you do, your browser’s location is converted once into the nearest city. Only rounded coordinates are sent to our server, and nothing is stored.
Statistics without IP addresses
To count unique visitors to an artwork or profile, we use a hashed daily identifier. It changes every day and can’t be used to follow you from one day to the next. We don’t store your IP address for this purpose.
If you heart an artwork without an account, an anonymous identifier is stored in a cookie in your browser. On our servers, this identifier is only kept in hashed form. If you create an account, your hearts are added to it.
Where your data is hosted
Our database is hosted in Canada, in the Montreal region, and the site runs from that same region. We also rely on the following service providers:
- Cloudflare R2: storage of images and files, in the Eastern North America region (Cloudflare offers no region in Canada);
- Resend: sending emails;
- Stripe: payments, subscriptions and payouts to artists;
- Inngest: background jobs;
- Anthropic: optional automatic translation of messages, artwork descriptions and profiles, and help writing descriptions from the artist’s own words;
- Google and Meta (Facebook): signing in with your Google or Facebook account, if you choose to;
- CARTO: map backgrounds; your browser loads the map images from its servers, which then receive your IP address;
- Google (Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics): audience measurement, only with your consent.
Transfers outside Quebec and Canada
Some of these providers may process data outside Quebec or Canada. These transfers are covered by agreements with each of them.
Retention periods
We don’t keep data longer than we need to:
- Server logs and IP addresses: 90 days at most.
- On-site notifications: deleted after 6 months.
- Payments and invoices: as long as required by tax laws, generally 6 years.
- Account: as long as it’s active. When you delete it, your personal information is erased or anonymized immediately.
- Backups: 7 days, after which newer backups replace them.
Optional audience measurement
Only with your consent, we measure the site’s audience to understand how it is used and improve it. We do this in two ways.
Our own totals: for each page view, we add 1 to a daily total by page type, language, device type, source (search engine, social network…) and country. We keep neither your IP address, nor the exact page address, nor any identifier. These totals are hosted in Canada.
Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager: it places measurement cookies (for example `_ga`) and sends Google information about your visit (pages viewed, device, source). Google processes this data in the United States. Google’s advertising features are turned off (consent mode: advertising denied). Without your consent, neither Google Tag Manager nor Google Analytics is loaded.
We use no advertising cookies, and we don’t allow any advertiser to place cookies on Artblr.
Your cookie choices
On your first visit, a banner offers three buttons: Accept, Refuse or Customize. Until you accept, no optional cookie is set.
You can change your mind at any time: the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page. You can also clear cookies in your browser settings; some features, such as signing in, will then stop working properly.
Exercising your rights
You can access, correct, delete and retrieve your data, and withdraw your consent. Most of this can be done directly in your account, on the “Privacy and data” page:
- Download your data: an instant JSON file (account, profiles, artworks, hearts, boards, alerts, conversations, email choices);
- Delete your account: self-service and immediate; in conversations, your name is replaced so the other person keeps the history;
- Newsletter: explicit consent, one-click unsubscribe;
- Other requests: write to us at info@artblr.com.
