Buying art

How do I find art near me?

Use the “Near me” page or pick a city in the catalogue. You can then filter by medium, price or size, and see artworks on a map.

Do I need an account to write to an artist?

No. The “Write to the artist” button works without an account: your email address is all you need to get a reply. You only need an account to pay online.

What if the artist doesn’t speak my language?

Messages are translated automatically. You write in English, the artist reads it in their language, and their reply reaches you translated, with the original underneath.

Can I negotiate the price?

Yes, by making an offer in the conversation. The artist can accept it, decline it or send a counter-offer. Each offer is valid for 72 hours.

Does an accepted offer commit me to pay?

An accepted offer sets the agreed price. You then sort out payment and delivery with the artist, either directly or online through Artblr.

What are hearts for?

A heart tells the artist you love their work and helps them get discovered. It works without an account, and if you sign up later, your hearts move to your account.

Who handles shipping?

The artist, or the gallery selling the artwork: they pack and ship it, or hand it to you in person. Artblr is not the carrier, whether you buy directly or pay online through Artblr. Shipping costs, timing and method are agreed with the artist; the artwork page lists them when the artist has filled them in. When you pay online, the money is held until you confirm receipt, so you are protected if the artwork never arrives.

Payment and guarantee

What’s the difference between buying directly and paying online?

When you buy directly, you make arrangements with the artist and pay them yourself, and Artblr takes no commission. When you pay online, you pay securely on Artblr and get the 14-day guarantee.

How does the 14-day guarantee work?

When you pay online, the money is held until you confirm you’ve received the artwork. The 14-day guarantee starts then, and you can request a return during that time.

What if I forget to confirm receipt?

Receipt is confirmed automatically 21 days after shipping, and the 14-day guarantee starts from that point.

How does a return work?

You can return an artwork if it doesn’t match its description (not for a change of mind). Describe the problem and attach photos; the artist has 5 days to respond, then Artblr decides. If the artwork clearly doesn’t match, the artist reimburses return shipping; otherwise, you pay for it. Ship the artwork back with tracking and well packed: you’re responsible for it until the artist receives it. The refund follows once the returned artwork has been checked.

Do I need an account to pay online?

Yes, a free art lover account. It lets you track delivery, confirm receipt and, if needed, request a return.

Who pays the 8% commission?

The artist. The price you see is what you pay for the artwork; the commission comes out of the artist’s payout.

Artists and plans

How much does an artist showcase cost?

Nothing to start: the free plan lets you show 5 artworks forever, with every tool except the personal website. Pro is CA$4.99 a month and the Gallery plan is CA$14.99 a month.

What’s included in the 30-day Pro trial?

All of Pro, free for 30 days: unlimited artworks and your personal website. When the trial ends, you choose whether to subscribe or stay on the free plan.

Do prices include taxes?

Prices are in Canadian dollars, before taxes, and the taxes depend on where you are. In Canada: GST or HST is added based on your province, plus QST in Quebec. Anywhere else: no Canadian tax is added, you pay the price shown.

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes, any time, from your studio. Pro stays active until the end of the month you’ve paid for, with no further charges.

What happens to my artworks if I stop Pro?

Nothing is deleted or hidden: all your published artworks stay visible. You simply can’t add more beyond 5 until you go back to Pro.

Do you take a commission on my sales?

Not on direct sales: you keep 100%. Only sales paid online through Artblr carry an 8% commission, and you’re paid after delivery and the 14-day guarantee.

How am I protected if a buyer requests a return?

No refund is automatic. The buyer must show, with photos, that the artwork doesn’t match its description; you have 5 days to respond with your evidence, then Artblr decides. If the artwork comes back damaged, report it within 3 days with photos: the refund may be reduced or refused. If a payment dispute is lost even though you shipped with tracking and delivery is proven, Artblr covers the loss.

What evidence should I keep?

Photos of the artwork (front, back, signature, edges) and of the packaging right before shipping, the shipping receipt with the tracking number, and proof of delivery. Always enter the tracking number on Artblr, and insure valuable shipments. An accurate description (dimensions, medium, framing, flaws) remains your best protection.

Certificates of authenticity

What is an Artblr certificate?

It’s a certificate of authenticity tied to an artwork, with a unique 16-character number and a QR code. The artist prints it and hands it over with the work.

How do I check a certificate?

Scan the QR code or enter the number on our public verification page, with or without dashes. You’ll see the artwork, the artist and the date of the certificate.

Does my old certificate still work?

Yes. QR codes that are already printed still lead to the artist’s page.

Can I use my own certificate?

Yes. Along with the Artblr certificate, you can upload your own PDF to the artwork’s page.

Are certificates included in the free plan?

Yes, for your 5 artworks. With Pro, you can create them for all of your work.
