: Jean Bessat was born in Paris in 1946. After a bachelor's degree in 1964 and a year of preparation, he studied at the National Superior School of Decorative Arts in Paris from 1965 to 1969. He taught drawing for three years at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Montparnasse, then did a career in advertising and marketing. In 1988 he moved to the south of France where he became an importer of African handicrafts and Indian jewelry. Since his studies and until today his graphic and artistic production has never stopped. He decided to make it public - it had been sleeping in his boxes for decades - with as a first step the publication in 2017 of a book for children aged 3 to 8, half-tale - mid-didactic "The adventures of Djembo Fleur” that he wrote and illustrated. This is the first of a trilogy of 3 books, the second of which is nearing completion. He is putting on line progressively very different elements of his production from 1963/64 until today. He is currently working on a series of figurative canvases with the theme of Argentinian tango and at the same time he is preparing a series of abstract canvases entitled "MINERAL" whose sketches are visible on this site as well as on Pinterest and Facebook. He does not claim any school or tradition. He has always refused to lock himself into a particular style or formatted way of thinking.
