The art scene in Sherbrooke
Downtown, the Musée des beaux-arts de Sherbrooke focuses on the art of the Eastern Townships while also hosting shows by contemporary artists. A short walk away, the city’s mural circuit lets you discover a series of large painted façades depicting local history and characters. It is an easy way to get a feel for the place in a single afternoon, with plenty of cafés along the route.
The Université de Sherbrooke and Bishop’s University in Lennoxville bring a student energy to the city and support more experimental exhibition spaces. Beyond the city limits, the Townships countryside has long drawn painters, potters and sculptors, many of whom work from studios at home. Summer and fall studio tours and village exhibitions are the best occasions to meet them where they work, often over a coffee in the studio.
On Artblr, you can browse work by artists from Sherbrooke and the Eastern Townships, filter by medium or budget and write to the artist directly. Curious about a piece? Ask about its story, then arrange a studio visit if you want to see it before deciding. That direct contact comes with no commission.
