Jacqueline Belotti, Lives and works in Rio de Janeiro. Visual artist, Ph.D. in Visual Arts at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. I explore electronic media, intertwining painting, sculpture in the landscape, taking the public as a promoter of ephemeral actions. I start from the utopian desire to build 'bridges' in cultural terms where there are borders. I work through multiple means and transdisciplinary procedures, focusing on the post-colonial cultural cross between East and West. My works link ideas and intersections between neoconcretism and mysticism, exploring juxtapositions of geometric form and color. The history of global economic flows and colonization build my particular mental architecture. I include imagination to recount the official story. In 2017, I lived in Lisbon. From the experience comes the installation 'Social Fabric' - a collage of superimposed geometric, adaptable to the street. Clothes stretched in the streets – Lisbon habit, exposes a space belonging to all, combining public and private. In Santa Maria da Feira, I presented this installation. The video installation 'Geo Metria' Geo metry, compiles videos taken by the world - China, Brazil and Europe. In Brazil, the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Brasília. I record the unexpected - the "snapshot" using Smartfone. I edit continuously real-time excerpts, use loop projection, with different configurations, to suggest other temporalities and spatiality. They are metaphors of intertwined boundaries. In the "Between Worlds" installation, held at Zen Buddhist Monastery, I explore borders in our mind: between cultures, visible and invisible, reality and imagination, finally among people. I investigate models of visuality, sonority, temporality, spatiality and representation of the landscape, to create dialogues between worlds. I deal with the nature / culture dichotomy and our inner landscapes.
