Futurist sculpture using traditional wood carving techniques.
Tom Wray is a British artist living in Sao Paulo , who works with painting, sculpture and street art. He grew up in multicultural London and lived a global itinerant life before settling in his adopted home Sao Paulo. His perspective has been one of living alongside immigrants and being one himself His work focuses on multicultural experience and identity. He experiments with the fragmentation and reassembly of visual traditions and iconography mirroring the cultural merging through the process of globalization. He creates a mixed language of cultural referents, to create new hybrids. His work often uses the forms and symbolism of myth reworked and remixed to inhabit a contemporary and futuristic urban environment.
