I spent a lot of time drawing and painting as a teenager and young man, undertook a two-year diploma programme in fine arts in Vancouver in the late 1980s and was then meant to continue studying art at university. Because I registered for studio courses too late, I ended up falling in love with history and the German language and literature instead, and more or less lost my connection to art for 25 years. In the last three years I've been fighting my way back in, and enjoying the journey. I'm a late starter, I guess, but I feel the passion growing again with every new drawing or painting and every new advance on the learning curve.
