Can Uluer (b. 1960, Ankara, Turkey) is a contemporary Turkish painter and ceramic artist whose work explores the human condition through symbolic figuration, memory, mythology, and emotional narrative. Educated in Archaeology and Art History, he developed an artistic language that bridges classical traditions with contemporary expression.
In 1980, Uluer established his own ceramic studio and completed a large-scale ceramic mural commission in Ankara. His first solo exhibition was held in 1983 at Yap? Kredi Art Gallery in Ankara. Throughout his career, he has worked across painting and ceramics, creating works distinguished by their strong figurative presence, atmospheric depth, and psychological intensity.
Uluer’s paintings often investigate themes of solitude, love, silence, time, and human vulnerability. Drawing inspiration from both Mediterranean cultural heritage and Old Master traditions, his works combine technical craftsmanship with symbolic content.
His work has been exhibited internationally, particularly in Italy, through collaborations with Mega Art Gallery. Notable appearances include exhibitions in Venice during the 2022 Biennale period, ArtParma Fair, Vernice Art Fair in Forlì, the International Contemporary Art Exhibition in Garda, ArtContact Istanbul, and the group exhibition Agosto in Mega Art in Corchiano, Italy.
A significant career achievement was receiving the Menzione di Merito (Merit Mention) in the Painting Section of the Second International Triennale of Visual Arts of Ferrara (Italy) for his painting “Time.” The official triennial catalogue featured both Time and Resting Woman alongside his artist biography.
Uluer’s work has also been featured in international art publications, including Musetouch Magazine, where his paintings were highlighted for their poetic exploration of silence, memory, and human relationships.
Today, Can Uluer lives and works in Istanbul, Turkey, while maintaining an active international presence through exhibitions, publications, online artist platforms including Artblr, DeviantArt, and social media, reaching audiences in Turkey and abroad.
