New Media: New Media, Digital, Manipulated, Photo and Found Objects on Other. From a view on the Essex Way, this walk starts in Epping and ends in Harwich, here I was a few miles from a small hamlet called Cressing. Digital Landscape, created from photographed and manipulated found objects, new media Landscape Wall Art in an impressionist style.
I am a British independent artist creating landscape representational multimedia images. I was originally educated in abstract expressionism within a highly academic discipline of cultural theory; I eventually rejected this due to my love of landscape, and have over the years adopted a kind of impressionist realism as my genre of choice. I have recently become very interested in working digitally, manipulating all sorts of scanned and photographed media, using 3D Maya and Max created items etc to get a very personal end result. I love my work, like to explore aesthetic possibilities and desire to share my work with people who love beauty!" Being educated as a painter I approach digital media in a very different way to a graphic artist. By using, in each work, a variety of photographed multimedia items that include anything I notice that might have a relevant texture or hue, plus real brush and pen work, I meld these together to create a representational and pictorial image. Using Photoshop, Maya, Studio Max and Mudbox I develop my images within a complex arrangement that relies on much experiment, and allows every image a different finished appearance. I normally work in an impressionist style with an abstract leaning, but having said that I do not deny the digital media its own particular influence to the language; I am a painter at heart, so I try not to break away too much from the attributes that are common to canvas painting". I like realism, I like to see how far I can go without losing sight of the theme - I just want that theme to be subordinate to the dramatic mood I invent.
