REGINA MOTA ANTUNES (Regina.A) was born in Cascais - Portugal, recently moved to Sintra where she lives and works. Due to her pictorial personality, adaptability, spontaneity and tremendous curiosity, she often finds herself in the field of exploration and conducting research that leads to different approaches and techniques. She feels the need to be free from her more reflective side and "dive" onto the screen intuitively and gesturally, regardless of previous drafts. This presents a challenge to be surprised, as if it were an intrinsic necessity. The artistic process is based on overlapping random layers that will determine the evolution of the painting. These layers are being partially removed, revealing light colors, textures and shapes, a process of construction and deconstruction by which painting acquires its own life.
Her main activity until 2010 was graphic design, but drawing and painting was a constant practice in her life. Throughout her career, Regina has deepened her experience as a self-taught artist by participating in painting and drawing workshops, as well as attending the painting course at Ar.Co (Art and Visual Communication Center).
She participated in several design competitions, having won awards, and has her work on display in both individual and collective exhibitions. Her paintings are found in numerous private collections in Europe, Asia, North America and Australia.
