The Three Sisters

Working on a large canvas inspired me to combine three distinct portraits of women but with shared details and a sense of association. Each of these multi-faceted women has her own style and personality yet they combine to make a strong collective visual impact. Shared histories but with separate dreams. The nuanced colors, layered paint with discreet shadings combining with paint brush techniques to bring subtle detailing is enhanced with the use of added textural work in antique newspaper, with its rich golden colors and faded writings from times past. The jewelry has added features in metallic paint which is balanced with detailing in gold leaf in other segments. Cool shades of blue dances with deep greens and contrasts with burned orange, sensual reds and gold. Small patterns and detailing has been added throughout the painting to provide a sense of continuous exploration for the eye of the beholder. Collectively this multitude of layers, colors and details in their Cubistic shapes provides a level of depth and richness of colors that provides you with an evolving visual journey.
