Biography. Johnstone Kimase is a kenyan fine artist and painter.His artwork has also received international attention,with recognition in the Malaysia international art competition(2024),winning an online art scholarship competition at Drawing Academy London.(2024) and being invited to showcase his artwork at Xanadu Gallery in theU.S.A(2023). his medium oil, water colour, charcoal and pencil artworks. originally born and raised up in the village of Kapkitony,Keiyo south Elgeyo-Marakwet County.,curently he is based and works in Iten-a small town known globaly for producing world- class athletes,"the home of champions".
Artistic background:In early recognition,his talent for drawing was first spoted and nurtured by a primary school teacher named Julius Maiyo and encouraged him to pursue a fulltime art course.
Education: kimase gratuated and earned a Diploma in fine art from Creative Art Centre Nairobi in the year 2001
One of his great passion in life is art work, he seeks to document his art work to capture scenes and events and to share with others the beauty and diversity of the World.
His use of media include, charcoal pencil,watercolour and oil based paints.His artwork accorded him recognition after presenting the portraits of Kenya’s second president the late Daniel Arap Moi,former first lady Her Excellency Margaret Kenyatta and key ministry officials of education among others.
At school his major interest was the art of drawing ,he was supported by Julius Maiyo who spotted his artistic abilities and encouraged him to take a full time course at the art centre.His passion for artwork led Former Governor Eng. Alex Tolgos Elgeyo Marakwet County acknowledged his artwork and appointed to serve the County of Elgeyo Marakwet as a County Artist which turned out to be his eye-opener where art craft and music was given emphasis.

1999-Awarded a certificate in drawing and painting

2007-Successfully handed over the portrait of the following;
1.Former Keiyo south M.P.The Late Nicholas Biwott
2.Former Keiyo South M.P Jackson Kiptanui
3.Former minister for education Prof.Sam Hongeri.
2013-Recommendation from ministry of education after successfully handing over the portraits of key ministry officials.
2014-The county Government of Elgeyo-Marakwet acknowledged his art work after successfully handed over the portrait of the first governor Eng. Alex Tolgos and Prof. Margaret Kamar.
2015-He successfully handed over the portrait of the second president Mzee Daniel Arap Moi, a portrait that depicted youthful Mzee Moi when he was at his staff house in Tambach when he was a teacher.
2016-Presented a portrait of the Former H.E First Lady Margret Kenyatta when she was preparing for London Marathon.
2021-Recognized by the Art worldwide platform with a certificate of authencity of his Art work entitled “ The home of Champions-Iten.”
2022-Participated in an Art Context sponsored by Kenya National Cohession and Intergration Commission (NCIC) entitled” let’s preach peace during and after the election period in Kenya ”and his art work was selected as the best and reimbursed Ksh 20,000.
2023-Special Invitation to submit his artwork to Xanadu Gallery, Arizona USA by Jason Horejs for comprehensive marketability and registration for Art business Academy.
2024-his artwork was listed among the top 80 award winning paintings in the category portrait paintings,at the Malaysia International art Competition (IFAM global).
2024-he won an online art competition for art scholarchip from Drawing academy London,united kingdom.
