The Gallery 83 (Kyiv, Ukraine) will open a unique photo exhibition featuring Ukrainian fine art photographer Sergiy Kadulin on November 14, on view until November 26, 2017.
The CIVILIZATION photo exhibition will feature nearly 30 large format prints by Sergiy Kadulin, created from the photographs he collected throughout the world in recent decade. Majority of limited edition works are being shown to the public for the first time.
Born in Kyiv in 1967, Sergiy Kadulin is one of rare Ukrainian fine art photographers to embrace digital composition, photo collage and abstraction. Being graduated from Kyiv School of Photography and New York Institute of Photography, Sergiy has a passion for architectural, interior, landscape, urban and nature photography. He uses his talent to bring colors and dynamics of cities and remote places he visits during his travels around the world.
“In CIVILIZATION project I am trying to gather collective impressions from countries, cities, places, cultures, all mixed together in time and space. While one single photograph might perfectly showcase “The Decisive Moment”, it is difficult to make extensive comprehension of the place out of it. I am using digital collage techniques to find new meanings, hidden senses and new forms representing various environments of human inhabitance,” explains Sergiy Kadulin. “The mystery of this digital composing technology is that it allows for creating something which you might not predict at the first hand. The creative process of each of the presented work is like a voyage to the unknown terrain, full of new colors and beauty”.
Iryna Grozdyk, the owner of Gallery 83, says: “Familiarity with the works of the photographer Sergiy Kadulin coincided with my reading of Italo Calvino’s book "Invisible City" and became a kind of illustration of the work. The photographs made in different cities around the world are reminiscent of a game-riddle, the rules of which the reader chooses himself, traveling from work to work in an arbitrary way, building his own history, his own vision of a city, possibly real, perhaps somewhere illusory, but similar to the frenzied life of modern megacities. "Civilization" can best be described by a quotation from the work: "Marco Polo describes the bridge, a stone by stone. And which of them holds the bridge? - Kublai wonders. -The bridge holds not a stone, but an arch created by them. "Then why are you telling me about stones?" I'm only interested in the arch. Polo answers: "There is no arch without stone." Come and build your bridges to the world created by photographer Sergiy Kadulin!”.
