I am Amrita Nandi, a visual artist from Kolkata born in Naxalbari, a village in West Bengal. Growing up with my aunt, I became deeply observant of human emotions, physical differences, and the landscapes that shape everyday lives.
I create representational paintings rooted in close observation. My work focuses on the strength and vulnerability expressed through posture, gaze, and body language especially in quiet, reflective spaces. I work primarily in watercolour and acrylic, using layered tones and textures to reveal both physical form and the inner emotional world.
Many of my works emerge from life studies or brief moments of stillness gestures of resilience, intimacy, and cultural identity. Through subtle lighting and thoughtful composition, I aim to portray dignity in the ordinary and humanity in its most introspective states.
As an emerging artist trained in Kolkata, I am committed to developing a strong body of representational work that evokes emotional connection and invites viewers to pause and reflect.
